First off, I want you to watch this video of a song by Nicole Nordeman (The rest of this post will make much more sense if you watch the video, trust me you won’t regret it)
I love how this song shows the intimate side of God, because He really is intimate. We too often view Him as some guy up there, that we will never REALLY know. THAT IS NOT THE CHARACTERISTIC OF CHRIST, NOT EVEN CLOSE. He wants to know us, He wants us. Listening to this song It makes me think back to my childhood. I remember trying over and over again to ride a bike in my small little front yard, I remember measuring my height on the door frame, I remember being scared of the dark (still am, shhhh), I remember trying every sport on the face of the earth, being terrible at some things and totally rocking other things, I remember getting older and getting my feelings hurt, heart breaks, in need of a best friend or just a shoulder to cry on, I know how I need a savior, healer, redeemer. Thinking back to those types of moments in my life, and realizing how God was there, how he cared, how He watched all of those things happen and realizing how near He was in those moments just comforts me.
In the bible, God says “I am” 918740184047 times (I counted). Heres a few of what He is: The bread of life, Light of the World, Son of God, Teacher, Lord, The Way, Truth, and Light, The Alpha and Omega, Almighty, The First and the Last, The Great I Am.
The cool thing about God is that, yes he is all of those things (and more) but He is also everything we need in every moment of our lives. Like in the song— He meets our needs, He is right there reaching out, grabbing a hold of us, and becoming exactly what we need in that exact moment and exact circumstance. No matter your story, no matter your needs, no matter if you are alone or surrounded by countless people, God is going to meet your needs, simply because you are loved. He is a father to the fatherless, hope for the hopeless, light in the darkness, strength for the weak, beauty for the broken, the path for the lost, a stretched hand for the needy, love for the broken hearted, He is literally anything we need. Rest in the fact that you are never alone, that we serve a living God that desires a relationship with us, that loves us, that loves to see every single detail of our lives, and that is so near every second of every day.
I love y’all and I hope y’all enjoyed talking about this side of God as much as I do!
Have the best week ever!
