Today, I want to talk about something that I have always struggled with grasping—GRACE. I came across a verse that really just got me to start thinking about how when I fail, I have two options, I can either throw myself a pity party, grab some chocolate chip cookie dough ice-cream and call it a day OR I can get back up, reach out and grab a hold of God’s unfailing love and grace.
Take a look at Psalm 37: 23-24
“If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”
God delights in a person who follows, trust, and fears Him, and a person who strives daily to do His will. There is a 100% chance that every day I will make multiple mistakes, we all will. There is no sin, no struggle, no temptation too big for Jesus. There is no situation, no story, or no life too lost and the cool thing about Jesus is that He meets us where we are in our walks. We don’t have to clean ourselves up first or put on a mask and try to cover the ugly. I have seen first hand how Jesus can take our broken, distorted circumstances and turn them into something so beautiful, full of life, and uses those circumstances to bring glory to His name.
Sometimes it’s hard to turn away from what the world says is okay. Things are constantly justified and made to sound great. Satan’s tricks have been the same since the beginning— sin is made to look like a great thing that will bring joy, life, and will fill that void, when really it will bring sadness, death, and make us feel empty. The cool thing about Jesus is that it is not about a list of rules we have to follow, because when you encounter the love and mercy of Jesus those sins that a had a strong grip on us, start to lose their strength and what was once about ,“I cant do this or that” becomes “I have no desire to”.
The main thing that I have began to realize is, He loves us when we are broken, when we have hit rock bottom and He loves us when we are at our absolute best. When you feel broken or tempted start to seek God’s advice and have Him direct your steps and help keep them firm, so you will not fall.
