What Does God Think About You?

I honestly am writing this as a rant to myself and in hope that it will help some of you ladies also. This new year I, along with everyone else, decided to focus on living a healthier lifestyle. I started what is called “Whole 30” so basically for 30 days you cut out dairy, sugar, grains, ect.. and after its over you slowly can add things back in and see how your body reacts. So far, I love it! I have a lot more energy and just feel better. For a while there, I was eating to “be skinny”, I began comparing myself to others and it just wasn’t a healthy mindset for me- My goal and focus now is to eat to be healthy and strong.

Does any body else struggle with worrying about what other people think of them? Just Me? Of course not! We all struggle with that, it’s what this world and society tells us is important. “Eat this so you’ll look like this, don’t eat this so you’ll look like that, wear 10 inches of makeup, workout 5 hours a day 7 days a week, wear these clothes to look good, weigh this much to be good enough… the list could go on and on couldn’t it? It has taken such a long time for me to begin understanding that my security and my confidence and my worth does not come from the things of this world. Do I tend to be insecure? Yes absolutely- its a big struggle for me- I am tempted to compare myself, to see magazines or watch fashion shows and want to look “just like them” but God is so awesome and so near in every moment of insecurity. He makes sure I know exactly what He sees when He looks at me and when He looks at you- He calls us worthy, beautiful, loved, princess, daughter, forgiven. May I remind you that the bible says we are made perfectly in His image- God made me and God made you- Let’s not forget that He does NOT make mistakes. You have a purpose, you have your own unique talents and quirks, your own style, your own image— FOR A REASON. You are going to touch someone’s life with your gifts but the only way those gifts can be used to further His kingdom is if you are completely confident in being yourself, who God created you to be. Don’t try and change that, don’t compare yourself, don’t disrespect and down grade yourself- you’re awesome.

I HAVE A CHALLENGE AND I’M GOING TO DO IT TOO-
Write on a small paper or sticky note or whatever you want really, this verse, and place it somewhere you will see everyday!

1 Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

This verse has been my favorite for a while now. I love that God doesn't worry about what the world worries about- He isn't worried about our clothes, hair, or weight- He looks only at the heart and is so in love with us. I don't know about you but that makes me feel more secure then having everyone's approval on earth. My prayer and focus is that I (and we) begin to focus more on what God says about us and sees when He looks at us and less on the approval of others!

I love y'all :)
